About this report
Over the past year we spent a lot of time with operators: area managers, head chefs, store leads and the people on shift. This report summarises the patterns that came up again and again. It’s based on those conversations, not a survey, so read it as field notes rather than statistics.
Execution breaks quietly
Almost nobody described a single big failure. Instead, standards drift. A step gets skipped because the person who knew it left. A new procedure reaches some sites and not others. By the time it shows up in the results, it’s been happening for weeks.
People use what feels familiar
The tools that get adopted on the floor are the ones that feel like the apps people already use. Long manuals and desktop portals go unread. Short, visual, phone-first content gets done.
Training works best in short pieces, close to the moment it’s needed
Language is a bigger barrier than most head offices realise
Managers want fewer tools, not more dashboards
What the best-run groups do differently
They treat standards as something you check, not something you hope for. Every audit finding becomes an action with an owner. Every change comes with training. And they can see, per location, what has actually been done, so they spend their visits fixing problems instead of finding them.
